Pye Corner Audio -- the musical alias of Martin Jenkins (also known as the Head Technician, the House in the Woods, and the Howling Moss) -- combines a kaleidoscopic cornucopia of influences ranging from the and the soundtracks of and to the clinical electro sounds of and classic Detroit techno into a retro-futuristic sound all his own. Early on, the suspenseful sounds of his self-released Black Mill Tapes Vol.1: Avant Shards in 2010 captured the attention of fans of similar acts such as , , , and artists on the label. By the time of his 2012 debut, Sleep Games, beats and melodies became as prominent in his music as his flair for mysterious atmospheres, a trend that continued on later albums such as 2016's Stasis and 2019's Hollow Earth.

Emerging from the mid- to late-2000s underground electronic music scene that was once coined "British Cosmic Music" by noted author Warren Ellis, Jenkins began self-releasing music as Pye Corner Audio in 2010. That year, the single The Head Technician's Generosity and Black Mill Tapes Vol.1: Avant Shards both arrived, with Black Mill Tapes Vol.2: Do You Synthesize? appearing the following year. Both volumes of Black Mill Tapes were reissued by the respected electronic label in 2012, the same year that Black Mill Tapes Vol.3: All Pathways Open and Pye Corner Audio's debut album for Jim Jupp's label, Sleep Games, were released. Adding more warped beats and decayed melodies to Jenkins' approach, the album earned widespread critical acclaim.

A flurry of singles followed in 2013, highlights being the label-released "Conical Space/Dusk Veiled" and a 7" Ghost Box Study Series collaboration with the Listening Center. Jenkins also started a new musical project, the House in the Woods, in 2013, with a more ambient and experimental sound compared to his other work; the self-titled EP was released via that same year. In 2014, issued the third and fourth volumes of Black Mill Tapes, which nodded to house, disco, and darkwave as well as the dusty atmospheres of the previous installments ( also released a triple-CD compiling all four volumes). A split LP between PCA and also appeared on the label. The disco influence continued on Pye Corner Audio's Prowler, which was released by in 2015. Jenkins returned to for 2016's like-minded Stasis and teamed up with on the Run for the Shadows EP. The following year saw the release of the Spiral EP via , a collaboration with and the Where Things Are Hollow EP for . Pye Corner Audio's 2018 was just as busy, with output including the digital single Satan's Little Helper; Five Years in the Dark for TDO Cassettes; and Issue No. 22, another collaboration with and . Jenkins kicked off 2019 with Hollow Earth, his third Pye Corner Audio album for and one of his most accessible releases. Ja, många skivor jag spelar just nu är dels nyinköpta (ambient och svartare metall). Många andra är skivor som följt med när jag fått/köpt samlingar senare tiden. Så det blir minst sagt blandad kompott nu. Sedan är jag nyfiken på all möjlig musik

Minihi is the creative outlet of percussionists and composers Zands and Louise Anna Duggan. Together, they create a uniquely percussive take on contemporary instrumental music by blending mallets, piano and bell-like textures with earthy drums and bubbling synths. The London-based musicians construct vivid soundscapes where the classical palette intersects with the world of groove and electronics.

Their debut track 'Tokaido' was released by Deutsche Grammophon as part of 2020. Minihi released their Debut Album, 'Recaptures' on Unperceived Records on March 12th 2021. In their own right, Louise is the Percussionist for Agnes Obel (Deutsche Grammophon) and Zands plays with Melt Yourself Down (Decca). Between them they have worked with artists and ensembles ranging from the Royal Philharmonic to Lady Gaga and together they recorded on Thom Yorke’s Grammy nominated album ‘Anima’ with the London Contemporary Orchestra. Minihi means sanctuary in ancient Breton French, and is the original name of a remote island reef near Louise’s birthplace of Jersey.

Robbie Robertson & The Red Road Ensemble: Music For The Native Americans, CD. Något seg och halvplastig new age/native indianmusik. Det finns lite stämningsfulla partier, men lite för mycket utfyllnad. Den skulle släppts som en ep istället tycker jag.

Roy Orbison: You Got It, 7". Orbisons sista hit, släppt postumt 1989. Hans musik fick ju en comeback med denna fina låt, samt med sin medverkan i Traveling Wilburys på deras första släpp '88 (han dog någon månad senare).

Tommy Shaw: Ambition, LP. Gitarristen från Styx solo. Klistermärket på omslaget annonserar att den innehåller hiten No such thing, som också inleder skivan. Den och andra låten Dangerous game är de bästa på den här skivan, tycker jag. Bra Aor med bra refränger där, särskilt Dangerous game som påminner lite om Phenomena t.o.m. Sedan är det rätt anonymt tyvärr.


Insania: Sunrise In Riverland, CD-Digipack.

The Rembrandts: Just The Way It Is, Baby, 12". De är ju mest kända för vinjetten på "Friends" med låten I'll be there for you. Det här inte lika bra. Trevlig pop som inte fastnar riktigt.

Dan Reed Network: Slam, LP. De var populära när jag gick i gymnasiet, men jag fattade inte riktigt. Jag fick den här och deras första av en kompis för ett tag sedan. Den här var lite bättre. Funk, pop, "hårdrock-light" liksom. Eller som ett snällare Electric Boys, som också var populärara då. Den andra åkte i byt-bort-kassen.

The Spacious Mind: The No. 4 Or 5 Gravy Band, LP Die-cut. Supersnygg förpackning i riktigt tjockt kartongmaterial. Jag har inte lyssnat på dem på ett tag. Men deras experimentella space rock är fortfarande intakt och varierande. Jag ska leta lite mer efter dem, helt klart

Pelican: Arktika, 2LP-Gatefold - Clear vinyl i 500 ex. Ett av mina favoritjamband live betyder att det är lite mer svängrum, men de snöar inte bort sig. Instrumental sludge/post-rock med ett riktigt bra tugg i den fladdriga gitarren.
