For me, measurements are lab tools. Measurements tell you technically what your circuit is doing. Before you heat up your soldering iron to, say, change a resistor, you need to have something numerical to point to the right resistance value. Ears don’t help there. Your ear should be used instead to figure out what to measure so as to make those measurements meaningful for sound quality.
