Electronic contract with Factory Records 1990
Johnny features in a great new guitar book “Feeding Back, Conversations With Alternative Guitarists”. In a new in depth interview Johnny discusses the importance of guitar politics, key collaborators, and mystical musical connections. The book also includes interviews with John Frusciante, Lee Ranaldo, J Mascis and James Williamson amongst others.
This interview was conducted over the course of several sessions, May – July 2012. The interview will be published in 3 parts. Thank you, Johnny, for your time and for the depth of your answers.

In December 2007, we published an article entitled 'Morrissey: Big mouth strikes again'.
Following this, Morrissey began proceedings for libel against us. His complaint is that we accused him of being a racist off the back of an interview which he gave to the magazine. He believes the article was edited in such a way that made him seem reactionary.
We wish to make clear that we do not believe that he is a racist; we didn’t think we were saying he was and we apologise to Morrissey if he or anyone else misunderstood our piece in that way. We never set out to upset Morrissey and we hope we can both get back to doing what we do best.

On July 21st in Israel Morrissey was granted the Keys to the City by the mayor of Tel-Aviv. This is a very rare accolade and Morrissey told Israeli television reporters that he is "delighted to be honored and recognized," and he vowed to always do his best for the city of Tel-Aviv. It is the very first of such honors that Morrissey has received.
Morrissey played to a sold-out crowd of more than 5,000 that evening at Bitan 1.
In terms of ticket sales Morrissey's current tour of Europe and Asia has proven to be the most successful of his entire career.
The final ticket count for Morrissey's show at Bitan 1, at 5,900, out-sold recent shows by both Bruce Springsteen and Madonna. Promoters for Bitan 1 say that the Morrissey show was the fastest selling Tel-Aviv concert of this year so far. Morrissey remains without a recording contract.

It was unsurprisingly a very great pleasure to interview Johnny Marr for HSIN? This is an extract from the transcript and contains material which wasn’t included in the book.
