Following the release of TOTAL: From Joy Division To New Order in early 2011 and the surprise success of Lost Siren track “Hellbent”, New Order are proud to announce the release of The Lost Sirens, an eight track mini album featuring Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Philip Cunningham. Featuring a truly eclectic mix of electronica and guitars in the way only New Order know how, The Lost Sirens features eight tracks which were recorded during the sessions for Waiting For The Sirens Call and are all previously unreleased. “Hellbent” features on The Lost Sirens in it’s original non-radio edit form (as per TOTAL) and “I Told You So” is a previously unreleased mix.

New Order's Play At Home - Martin Hannett Interview Clips video
In 1983 New Order made their own documentary called Play At Home for Channel 4. It was an examination of Factory Records, the label they were on. Various figures from the label's history were interviewed by different members of the band. One of which was Martin Hannett, the producer of Joy Division and later New Order themselves. This interview with him has gained an infamous status because of the ending where he appears to fire a gun into the general area of interviewer Stephen Morris.
slicingupeyeballs.com skrev:Legend has it New Order wanted to have David Hasselhoff lip-synch along to the song, but the show’s producers nixed that. Instead, you get Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, Gillian Gilbert and a very shaggy Peter Hook miming away on the sand, surrounded by beach-going extras. Hasselhoff does stop by for a cameo, too, although it’s pretty tame.

phloam skrev:Lol! Hög komikfaktor på Peter Hook som rockar järnet, som om han stod på scen på CBGB's i NY och inte en strand i LA...! Frisyren kanske gör att han inte ser så bra iofsGillian är iskall och distanserad
Promotion at its best!

Det verkar vara någon slags British West Coast Rock Edition; Marr har likadana har jag lärt mig i din tråd. Eller är det så att de båda har härmat dig?

“I have looked after these tapes for a long time and when I approached the artists (who were my first port of call) I was subjected to accusations and abuse… so I don’t really care anymore. I know they are worth something to a collector… and good luck to them. The quality of Unknown Pleasures far surpasses the mastering from vinyl over the years (they lost the master tapes long ago… these are copy masters… and outtakes… that I assure you are quite splendid).”
Adamsom, who currently runs Invisible Girl Records, acknowledges she’s aware of the legal issues surrounding such tapes — namely that it would be difficult to release any such material without the involvement of the copyright holders and original recording artists. “I’m a music publisher,” she notes, “probably one of the reasons these tapes are in my hands in the first place, they were incalculably valuable and needed to be rescued from a skip.”
She adds:
“The digital copies will be available for all the artists and record companies … the tapes have always belonged to me, as I rescued them. I am keen for a collector to have them (the whole collection ideally) as they are very old and probably deteriorating and should be baked or whatever, nor do I really want to look after them anymore.”
In the lengthy Facebook thread about the tapes, she encourages any interested parties to message her directly about the tapes. She notes: “I reckon it will go viral (not by me).”
In her initial Facebook post, Adamson said she'd tried and failed at giving the tapes back to Peter Hook and other band members. In conversation with Pitchfork, Hook denies any such offer was made. "There is no way on earth that I, renowned collector of all things Joy Division and New Order, would have not been interested," Hook said.
He nonetheless spoke with gratitude and excitement about (hopefully) acquiring the tapes and hearing them next month. He is currently in negotiations to buy them back from Adamson, whom the band has known for years, having worked with her at Strawberry Studios and also alongside producer John Robie on New Order's "Shellshock" and "Shame of the Nation". (Her ex-husband, Chris Nagle, was Hannett's assistant on Unknown Pleasures and "Love Will Tear Us Apart".)
As Hook explained, most Joy Division master tapes were lost when Factory Records went bankrupt in 1992. The newfound tapes were, indeed, thrown away, due to sheer "laziness" of whomever was responsible for clearing out Strawberry when they went bankrupt around the same time. Due to current negotiations with Adamson, which Hook says are "going very well" and leaving him "full of hope," he was unable to divulge too much regarding the tapes' "long history." But the plan, Hook said, is to put together a collection of Joy Division outtakes and alternate mixes. "Warner Bros. has reissued a hell of a lot of Joy Division stuff, but it's just the same stuff over and over," Hook said. "It'd be nice to issue something that fans would love and cherish. Hopefully these tapes will enable us to do something different."
