Active Filter Four Board User Guide
Design by Jens Rasmussen
This filter board resulted from my looking for an active filter board at the same time as Jens felt like designing a board. It was designed as a flexible crossover board with features not often found on DIY boards.
This board is intended to be the "final board" after prototyping with an adjustable crossover, such as the MOX. It uses the Sallen-Key equal component value topology for flexibility.
Boards include:
An input buffer that can be a shelving high pass (For baffle step) and bandwidth limiting low pass
Buffered output signal taken after input buffer.
Up to 4th order Hi and low pass sections in Sallen-Key equal component value topology, includes interstage buffers and attenuation to correct back to unity gain.
Fourth order filter sections can be combined with notch filters to create Cauer-Elliptic filters.
Two output buffers with adjustable attenuation
Two EQ sections (peak or notch)
All pass (phase correction) section
Linkwitz transform (biquad)
There are a number of interstage jumpers to allow flexibility in connection. You can use standard 0.100" headers or just a wire jumper if you are sure of your selection. The board can be configured as either Hi/Low pass or Bandpass. The various EQ and phase correction sections are stand alone and may be patched into either high or low pass sections.
One board will make a two way XO for one channel.
Two boards are required for a stereo 2-way system.
Four boards are required for a stereo three way system.
Six boards are required for a stereo 4 way system.
The board does NOT include a power supply. You can use any power supply suitable for the op amps you choose. PSU 2.2 will provide +/- 15V at 500 mA. This is enough to power 4 boards with current to spare.
